Just use the "default" -- or does that break for you?  (well, my
default, anyway, is to not alarm)

...It's been so long since I've hacked on hostmon, I'll probably need to
code-dive again.

Ah yes... like I said, I was a bit tired last night... I've (mostly)
resisted going beyond 7 at the moment, though the company's finally
looking to move our production boxes to 8 (seeing as how 9's out now...
hehe)
