Which linux are you running this one on?  And, I take it, the CVS
version (ie the "most current") isn't helping?

What, specifically, is it doing?  I think it's actually just a raw TCP
socket, isn't it?  It's not like it's forking off a telnet client with
an expect script, IIRC.
