RE: [snips-users] Logstats.pl

Yep, logstats.pl in SNIPS 1.1 is broken. Someone already posted a fixed logstats.pl to the mailing list. You should be able to find it by searching the mailing list archives at: http://www.netplex-tech.com/software/snips/mail-archives/ That?s were I found the fixed script. Also, the logstats.pl file seems to be fixed in the SNIPS 1.2 beta so you can download the tar and grab it from there. On a side note, I never could figure out what kept causing ippingmon to keep hanging/crashing on my RedHat 8.0 systems. We have since dumped SNIPS since the project seems to be dead anyway and are migrating to Nagios, a very cool open source monitoring program with some very nice features. http://www.nagios.org Jeremy Palmer Network Administration Great Basin Internet Services nocstaff at greatbasin net www.greatbasin.net (775)321-8450 (888)477-7299 -----Original Message----- From: owner-snips-users at navya com [mailto:owner-snips-users at navya com] On Behalf Of nate Sent: Monday, April 07, 2003 11:14 AM To: snips-users at navya com Subject: Re: [snips-users] Logstats.pl , snips said: > Dear All > > I think you have probably already answered this once but my mailbox has > been screwed since then. I asked that question about a month ago, haven't gotten a resolution yet, I think I can figure out a fix but haven't spent any time on it since. I hope to look into it more soon. since my snips is purely proof-of-concept monitoring my home network it's not a priority for me :) one thing to try, is get nocol's log reporter and run it, no idea if the log formats are compadible but can't hurt to try. it may be easiest to write a perl script to preprocess the log files to a format the nocol log monitor can understand if infact the snips logfiles are incompadible by default, before passing the data to the nocol log monitor. nate |
