[snips-users] monitoring FTP

Hello,
with a bit of luck some one else will have tried (and succeeded) to monitor 
FTP using portmon. I want to log into the ftp server and then check for the 
response. 
I thought that this may do it,

HOST  ftp <host ip>     port 21      Critical user <username>\r\npass <pass>
critical       530 Sorry
info    230 Ok
QUIT    quit

hoewever it doesnt.... does anyone have any ideas?
