i have the same problem. nocol works fine though ->
snips at it-wa:~/snips/bin$ ./keepalive_monitors.pl

its probably an easy fix but when i tried to fix it on 1.0(snips) i only made it
worse..i guess i need to learn more perl :)
running perl 5.005_03 on debian gnu/linux and snips 1.1.
